We are excited to announce that we are officially WELL-registered to pursue WELL Certification for our own office interiors in Dubai. WELL Certification is administered by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™) through its WELL Building Standard™ (WELL), which is the premier building standard to focus on enhancing people’s health and wellness through the buildings where we live, work and play.
WELL is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and wellness, through Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort, and Mind. WELL is grounded in a body of evidence-based research that explores the connection between the buildings where we spend approximately 90 percent of our time, and the health and wellness impacts on us as occupants of these buildings.
By pursuing our own office WELL certification it will provide two main benefits. Firstly, and most importantly, it will further improve the health and wellness of our team that work in our Dubai head office, as well as contributing to our sustainability strategic goals. It will also complement our office interior LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by improving the human elements of our office workspace. Secondly, it will enable our team to learn first-hand the process of WELL certification and any challenges. This invaluable knowledge and experience combined with our WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) team members will then enable us to provide experiential informed advice to clients wishing to purse WELL certification.
“Summertown Interiors joins a dedicated community of leaders bringing health and wellness to the forefront of our workplaces,” says IWBI Chief Commercial Officer Jessica Cooper. “We applaud Summertown Interiors‘ commitment to its employees and its clients and look forward to supporting them on their journey to wellness.”
Our aim is to complete the process and be awarded WELL Certification by IWBI upon rigorous testing and a final evaluation by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), which is the third-party certification body for WELL, by the end March 2020.
