We are excited to release our 2017-2018 Sustainability Report, which details our performance against the environmental, economic and social issues that we believe matter most to our business and our stakeholders.
Our third sustainability report specifies our performance against eight material issues that matter most to us and our stakeholders. Key achievements include: positive economic performance, reporting an annual turnover 13% above our three-year average for the 2017-18 financial year, continued reduction in our environmental impact, including:
- 10.3% reduction of absolute Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in our office
- 9.3% reduction in energy intensity per person in our office
- 32% reduction in absolute office waste send to landfill.
Investing in the health and wellbeing of our employees is a key element of our sustainability strategy. The new report incorporates the results of our employee survey that measure the impact of Summertown’s Wellness & Wellbeing programme – with 85% of employees stating that workplace morale has improved, and 96% said it has increased team spirit.
We are also proud to say that all our suppliers meet our labour, environment and social responsible procurement criteria during 2017-18 financial year. In addition, we achieved 36.4% of spend on sustainable products for our client projects, and 86% of total purchases for own office procurement in line with LEED EBOM criteria.
The sustainability report is produced in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) – the international independent standards organisation that helps businesses and governments to understand and communicate their impact on climate change.
